Our Journey
With the seemingly relentless pace of modern life, many are now looking for opportunities and insights to slow down and live a more conscious, mindful life - one where simplicity and slow living are at the centre.
The Slow and Winding Road seeks to demystify slower living, mindfulness and Stoicism with a view to promoting a sense of balance, resilience and meaning in our increasingly busy lives. SLOW-WR will set out to promote a sense of self-belief that (no matter our circumstances) we can apply some of the core principles and practices to adopt a purposeful, mindful and slower way of living to benefit ourselves, our families, friends and colleagues.
Let’s be honest though, slower / mindful living is a personal undertaking. We can offer insights, principles and common practices surrounding these concepts and philosophies, but there is no one way or correct way of doing things. It’s a journey with detours and avenues of personal discovery - perhaps even some dead ends . It’s up to each of us to find our own pathway, while remembering there are others on similar pathways who are there to lend an ear or a voice of support, encouragement and reassurance.
Reach out and have a chat with the community, we may join the road at different points and may approach our journey differently, but we’ve likely got a similar destination in mind…a calm, meaningful and happy life.
“When a man does not know what harbour he is making for, no wind is the right wind.”
“If you really want to escape the things that harass you, what you’re needing is not be in a different place, but to be a different person.”
“...two roads diverged in a wood and I, I took the one less travelled by and that has made all the difference.”
